PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

While we often debate internet privacy, people tend to forget a crucial step to staying safe online - setting good passwords. This account by The Atlantic writer James Fallows is just one of many harrowing descriptions that entails a password breach. Here are some tested practices one can follow:

  1. Cliché - Make it hard to guess (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters)
  2. Don't make short passwords
  3. Change passwords every three months
  4. If you use a password manager, make sure the MASTER PASSWORD follows the above three rules
  5. Use different passwords for every site (Use a password manager if you have difficulty remembering)
  6. Set up two-factor authentication if possible
  7. Avoid noting down passwords (if you have to, then make sure that is password protected too)

A big heart is all you need
Ravindra Birari is a hairdresser from Mumbai. Like many others, he lost a chunk of his regular income during this crisis. However, that has not stopped him from doing his part for the community.
For several years, he has been visiting slums and footpaths in different parts of the city to provide free haircuts to underprivileged children. "There's a child in all of us," says the man as he puts in extra hours in this pandemic. Ravindra wears a mask, covers his head, and takes hygienic precautions before cutting their hair now. With many roadside shops closed and others charging extra for protective measures, Ravindra's continuous service has been a beacon of hope for the homeless. Hear more from the hero himself in this video.
