PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Stories play an important role in helping us describe and characterize ourselves. We spend our entire lives listening to stories and telling them - consequently, it plays an essential role in our careers as well. While empirical arguments can help guide decision-making, the most compelling arguments are derived from storytelling. They engage the audience and make long-lasting impressions. Storytelling can be incorporated in many different ways - it can be anything from a pop culture reference to a personal story about yourself. They'll help when you present a topic, make points, or try to impress a senior, by allowing your audience to relate to you on a more personal level. The next time you're making a presentation or sitting in an interview, consider telling the audience a story - it's a great way to have fun while talking about what you love!

HERE'S SOMETHING INTERESTING

Just like his stellar career in Blue and Yellow, Sangakarra has excelled in his educational journey. His school awarded him its highest honors, The Trinity Lion and the Ryde Gold Medal, for being the best all-round student / head boy. As if being a star cricketer and academic achiever wasn't enough, he also played the chorister and the violin on the side.

Sanga's story is yet another instance of grit and dedication towards one's education. When he decided to pursue his dreams to earn a Masters degree in Law, he had to drop out due to his cricketing commitments. But he still managed to go back and earn his degree from the University of Colombo.

To bring us full circle on our 4-part Series with Stories with Saif: these stories show us that life often gets in the way. Injuries, professional commitments, personal shocks etc. Despite all these challenges, many have managed to prioritize their education and gained knowledge and skills that no one can take away from them. At The Capsule, we believe learning never ends -- we hope you found some of these stories inspirational and exemplary as you continue your life-long educational journey.
